Structured Cabling and Fibre Backbone Works

EDC Systems QLD completed data and communications works as part of the construction of a new junior learning facility in South East Queensland.

The project included the supply and installation of a Molex Cat6 certified structured cabling system, with Cat6 UTP cabling and communications outlets installed throughout the project area.

EDC also installed an OM4 12-core fibre backbone between the server room and learning block infrastructure, together with a copper voice backbone connected to the school’s existing network.

Associated communications rack works included a new power rail, UPS and patch leads within the existing rack, together with the required cable support infrastructure.

TESTING AND CERTIFICATION

The completed Cat6 copper and 50/125 µm multimode OM4 fibre optic structured cabling installation was fully labelled, tested and commissioned in accordance with the applicable Australian cabling standards and Molex Premise Networks requirements.

The Molex Cat6 copper cabling system was tested and verified to Category 6 / Class E performance requirements in accordance with AS 11801.1 / ISO/IEC 11801 and the applicable ANSI/TIA-568.2 requirements.

The OM4 multimode fibre optic cabling was tested and verified in accordance with AS/NZS 14763.3 and the applicable AS 11801.1 / ISO/IEC 11801 optical fibre performance requirements, with all certification test results and complete as-built documentation provided on completion.
