Steve Gillis is the Director of EDC Systems QLD and has worked in the electrical industry for more than 45 years.
Steve’s background is in commercial electrical installation, and he has led EDC Systems for 30 years. Since the business was formed in 1996, EDC has grown from its early partnership beginnings into a team supporting commercial, industrial and operational sites across Brisbane and South East Queensland.
In his current role, Steve oversees the broader direction of the business, including team leadership, safety compliance, people, financial management and the day-to-day running of EDC Systems QLD.
Steve believes EDC’s role is to make the client’s job easier by taking responsibility for the work entrusted to the team. His approach is practical, responsive and solutions-focused, with a strong emphasis on clear communication and reliable support.
One of the parts of his role Steve is most proud of is seeing people develop through the business. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to support many apprentices as they build their skills, confidence and careers. It has been especially rewarding to see people grow from their apprenticeship years into long-term members of the EDC team, as well as seeing others who have joined the business at different stages of their careers continue to develop and contribute over time.
Steve also values the team environment that has developed at EDC Systems QLD. For him, it is important that people feel they are working together, not simply working for him.
Outside of work, Steve enjoys camping around South East Queensland, spending time with family, keeping active and being part of his local community.
